New Delhi: In a key leadership transition, Lieutenant General Virendra Vats today assumed charge as the new Director General of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), the world’s largest uniformed youth organization. He succeeds Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh, who retired after a distinguished tenure. Lt Gen Vats takes over at a pivotal moment as the NCC is undergoing a major expansion—aiming to reach 20 lakh cadets across 28 States and 8 Union Territories, in alignment with India’s vision for Viksit Bharat@2047. NCC’s Evolution in the 21st Century With its enduring motto of “Unity and Discipline”, the NCC continues to be a cornerstone of youth development in India.
