1986 batch IPS officer Mohammed Jawed Akhtar, who was currently posted as DG, Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home Guards at the Centre, took his last breath while battling against Covid 19 on Friday.
Akhtar’s retirement was due in July this year. He was admitted in a private hospital in Delhi where he was undergoing the treatment. He is also the first IPS officer of DG rank who succumbed to Covid 19 in India.
