The first ever death of an IAS officer has been recorded in MP due to Covid 19. This comes after he tested negative three days ago and died of a cardiac arrest.

On Friday morning, Madhya Pradesh recorded the first death of an IAS officer due to the Covid-19 complications as the 58-year-old died after being tested negative three days ago. The state has already seen a surge in the positivity rate among the officials as at least 20 IAS officers and 106 officials at the state secretariat got infected with the virus.
Mr. Masood Akhtar was a 1986 batch state service officer and was currently serving as the secretary of the home department. He got elevated to the position of an IAS in 2011 and served as the District Collector of Chattarpur for four years.
Akhtar was under treatment for almost a month due to Covid-19 and was tested negative on Tuesday last week. However, he was suffering from a chest infection due to which he was still being treated. His demise was due to a cardiac arrest which he suffered on Friday.
