Retired IPS officer and former Director-General of National Security Guard (NSG), Mr. JK Dutt passed away to his heavenly abode on Wednesday. Reportedly, the officer was suffering from the deadly coronavirus, the complications of which led to his demise. He was admitted to Medanta hospital while being infected with the virus.
Mr. Dutt was the chief of NSG who saw counter-terror and rescue efforts during operation Black Tornado in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. He was a 1971 batch Indian Police Service Officer from the West Bengal cadre. He had served in various positions in the CBI and the Central Industrial Security Force. During his tenure in CBI, the IPS officer was associated with many sensitive cases.
In his service, he had received Police Medal for Gallantry, Police Medal for Meritorious Service, and the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
