Tamil Nadu government reassigned Inspector General of Police, Intelligence, N S Asiammal to the Enforcement wing
According to a Home Department order, K A Senthil Velan, who is currently on a required wait after returning from a central deputation, has been named IGP-Intelligence by the state government.
In the current vacancy, Asiammal would be posted as the IGP, Enforcement. Senthil Velan and Asiammal are both IGP-level IPS officers. Additionally, the administration has transferred 10 more IPS officers.
The transfers take on relevance in light of assertions that the violence that occurred on July 17 at a private school in the Kallakurichi area was the result of intelligence “failure.”
C Sylendra Babu, the state’s director general of police, had claimed there had been no intelligence failure in a press conference held after the violence.
