Indian Foreign Services (IFS) was established by the Indian government on 9 October 1946 for India’s diplomat, counselors, and commercial representatives overseas. However, IFS Day is celebrated on 9 October every year since 2011 to commemorate the day the Indian Cabinet created the IFS.
Greeting the IFS officers on 9 October, PM Narendra Modi tweeted “On IFS day, greetings to all #IndianForeignService officers. Their work towards #ServingTheNation, furthering national interests globally are commendable.
