Lose the Hearing Ability At Younger Age, Became IAS in First Attempt

She had lost the ability to listen in 11th standard, but still did not give up and became IAS in the first attempt

Meet IAS officer Saumya Sharma who topped UPSC in her first attempt with AIR 9th in 2017, despite losing hearing ability

Saumya origanlly hails from Delhi. She completed her schooling from Doon Public School in Paschim Vihar. Then, she enrolled in National Law University (NLU) to study law.

Losing hearing ability raised concern for her in the family, but she decided to move forward rather than be discouraged by this & resolved her hearing problem through a hearing machine and continued her studies.

When She was studying law, she decided to join the civil service. She had made up his mind to take the civil services exam as soon as he completed her advocacy studies.

Instead of studying 10 to 15 hours for civil services, Saumya studied for six to eight hours a day with a fixed time table.

During this time she read a national newspaper & online sources for current affairs, traditional books of some subjects apart from NCERT books. She chose law as an optional subject.

In an interview, Soumya said that UPSC aspirants should not take the CSAT paper lightly, but should also prepare for it. At the same time, choose the optional subject wisely.

Soumya is currently posted in Maharashtra Cadre as the CEO of Nagpur Zilla Parishad. Her husband Archit Chandak is an IPS officer of 2018 batch. She is a social media star too having over 248K followers on Instagram and over 22.0K followers on Twitter.
