First Women DGP of Punjab 

IPS officer Shashi Prabha Dwivedi, along with IPS Gurpreet Kaur Deo, became the first women IPS officers in Punjab to attain the rank of Director General of Police (DGP). 

IPS Shashi Prabha Dwivedi, a 1993 batch senior IPS officer hailing from Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh, has been promoted as DGP.

Her early studies were done in Mirzapur district of UP. She has done B.Sc from KB College, Mirzapur. On 4 September 1994, she joined the Punjab Police as an IPS officer to serve the nation.

Shashi Prabha Dwivedi has earlier served as ADGP with Women and Child Affairs and as Nodal Officer in Election Cell of Punjab Police with Human Resource Development.

Dwivedi, who was posted as Additional DGP (Railways) with additional charge of modernization, said, "I am elated to make it to the top rank and thankful to the government."

Along with IPS Shashi Prabha Dwivedi, IPS Gurpreet Kaur Deo has also been made DGP. They were among seven Additional DGP rank officers promoted as DGP recently.
