IAS officer of Chattisgarh cadre, Mr. Ganesh Shankar Mishra, who retired as Principal Secretary, Govt. of Chhattisgarh and later joined politics, shared an interesting templates about types of Millets in India. His post on Twitter instantly went viral and people called it informative.
Mr. Mishra attached a photo and tweeted, “Know how many types of Millet are there.” In this photo, there are 8 types of millets mentioned, which are Pearl millet, Sorghum, Finger Millet, Barnyard, Foxtail, Kodo, Little and Proso millet. Though, there are many more variety of millets found in India, Mr. Mishra talked about some most consuming of them.
People are also reacting on his tweet. One user wrote, “Millets contain lot of natural fibre which is important for effective digestion and doesn’t cause constipation besides other benefits.”
Another user said, “We have grown up eating this, even today we eat it with fervor, but earlier it was called the food of the poor or animals, but nowadays it is sold very expensive. Do not feel hungry and the body also remains light.”
This is a well known fact that the year 2023 has been declared by the United Nations as the International Year of the Millet, following a proposal by India, which wants to position itself as a global hub for millets.
Mr. Mishra is currently Pradesh Karyasamiti Member of BJP Chhattisgarh unit and Sah-Prabhari of District Rajnandgaon.
