Recently in a viral video on social media platforms, 2020 batch IPS officer of Bihar cadre, Ms. Sweety Sahrawat is heard saying she does not meet at her residence, as she also needs her personal space.
Aurangabad’s ASP Ms. Sehrawat said this to former Governor, former MP and former DGP Nikhil Kumar.
After this video went viral, debate started on social media whether the IPS officer was right in her conduct or not.
Meanwhile, clearing the air, 1996 batch senior IPS officer of Odisha cadre, Mr. Arun Bothra, posted on social media regarding this issue. He posted on X, “Police officers are supposed to be on 24×7 duty. They are expected to meet people also at their residence. But this applies to emergency situations. In cases of sudden law and order or heinous crimes. Not political delegations followed by cameramen and aiming at elections.”

According to reports, some people had gone to Mr. Nikhil Kumar regarding the increasing incidents of theft in the city. He called the ASP but there was no communication. After this, Mr. Kumar reached the ASP residence on foot. Media reports suggest that Mr. Kumar had to wait for around 45 minutes to meet the ASP Aurangabad, to register complaints.
In this whole conversation, Ms. Sehrawat looked very calm and was replying humbly. While there are people who likes her behaviour, there are also some who raised questions over her remark of not meeting people at home.
