The Maharashtra government on Monday issued transfer and posting orders for six IAS officers. This is the second time in a week when a minor bureaucratic reshuffle has been conducted by Uddhav Thackrey’s government. The recent transfer includes the appointment of Rajesh Deshmukh as the new Pune Collector. The Post was vacated since the transfer of Naval Kishore Ram in the Prime Minister’s office. Ram (2008) is now the Deputy Secretary in PMO.
The 2008-batch IAS officer Deshmukh was previously serving as the district collector of Yavatmal. He has also been assigned the role of the chief executive officer at Satara Zilla Parishad. The top officer is known for his activeness in tackling the crisis and he has also been credited with reducing the number of farmers suicide in Yavatmal. The main challenge ahead of Deshmukh is to tackle the Covid-19 situation in Pune, which is the worst hit by the crisis. Meanwhile, 2012 batch officer Dr. Kunal Khemnar has been appointed as Managing Director of the Haffkine Bio-Pharmaceutical Corporation Limited, a post previously occupied by Deshmukh.
Another major movement is the transfer of Shyam Tagade. The 1991 batch IAS will take charge as the Principal Secretary of the Social Justice and Special Assistance department. On the other hand, Parag Jain Nainutia (1996 batch) who was incumbent to the post, will be the new Secretary, Textiles. Along with them, Sunil Chauhan (2007 batch) will take the charge of Aurangabad Collector and Sandeep Kadam has been appointed as Collector, Bhandara. Sandeep is the 2008 batch officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre.
