The Covid situation had not only affected their education but their morale, too. In such a scenario, District Magistrate Kundan Kumar decided to help them by introducing crash courses for Matriculation and Intermediate students under a scheme called the Unnayan Yojana.

Smart classes are being conducted under the scheme on Unnayan App: Mera Mobile Mera Vidyalaya. Videos of the classes are then ulpoaded on Facebook and YouTube. Recently, an entrance exam was also conducted for offline classes and more than 1000 students sat for it.

CRASH COURSE

The course will start at two levels for candidates appearing in the Matriculation and Intermediate Examination 2022. Students of 265 high schools of the district will get its benefit. At the same time, special classes will be held for hundred selected students of the district, who will be selected through screening at the block level. Last year, the students from the special class who appeared in the matriculation examination came in the list of toppers of the state.

The District Magistrate said, “Classes are being conducted by a special team of the Education Department for students appearing in the matriculation and intermediate exams. The entrance test is being taken so that the children can prepare for the actual exam. Many children feel uncomfortable while appearing in the board exam and are not able to answer the questions properly. But our test will boost the morale of the children and prepare them to handle the board exams with ease.”

He said that along with offline classes for the children, online classes will also be conducted too. Children who cannot participate in offline classes can learn through online crash courses while sitting at home. During the online class, children can also ask questions and get replies from trained teachers. Test series will also be conducted so that children can practice for the main exam.

Unnayan App Interface

Teachers of different subjects have been selected for the preparation of the crash course. The complete crash course will be uploaded on Facebook, YouTube and Unnayan App. Students can prepare by watching it on their mobile phone itself. For those students who do not have Android phone, there will be smart classes in schools. In this regard, instructions will be issued soon to the headmasters of all the high schools in the district.

UNNAYAN YOJNA

Mr. Kumar first started the Unnayan Yojana when he was the DM of Banka district. Its goal is to provide quality education to all students to help them perform well in examinations. Initially started in five schools, it was later extended to almost all the schools of the district.

For this a model app was created, where students first understand the lesson from a concept video. This video is made of animation in easy language. After this, there is a test and then evaluation. The digital report card reveals where the student is weak and where he is facing problem. Feedback is given to the student according to his score.

Along with this, keeping in mind the board examinations, ‘School on Wheels’ was also started, where vehicles go from village to village to propagate education.

Unnayan is a highly interactive app. It has been produced in association with IIT Delhi graduates’ group, Eckovation. A global expert group is also connected with it. Last year, on Civil Services Day, Mr. Kundan shared information related to Unnayan at Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi. He has received many awards for this innovative scheme and has earned praises from within the country and abroad.
