Nestled in the quaint village of Dawal in the Sanchore district of Rajasthan, emerged a determined individual whose journey to academic pinnacles tells a story of perseverance and aspiration. Meet Satya Narayan Bishnoi, a name that resonates with success and commitment.

BACKGROUND

His educational odyssey began in Dawal village, where he received his primary education. He went to Jodhpur for higher education. His pursuit of excellence led him to the Birla Institute of Technology – Mesra, Ranchi, where he completed his Bachelors in Engineering in Electric and Electronics Engineering.

UPSC CSE

However, the script of Satya’s life took an unexpected turn in his final year of engineering when he decided to shift gears and set his sights on a career in Civil Services. The vibrant city of Jodhpur became his new academic haven as he prepared rigorously for the UPSC Civil Services Examination, seeking to make a mark on the national stage. He made four attempts at UPSC CSE but couldn’t clear.

RAS EXAM

In the midst of this pursuit, an opportunity presented itself in the form of the Rajasthan Administrative Services (RAS) examination in 2018. Though the first attempt saw him clearing prelims, the mains proved elusive. Undaunted, Satya continued to juggle his aspirations with the practical demands of life. He found himself working as a Junior Engineer in the Jodhpur Distribution Company, using every available moment to further his studies.

The year 2021 brought a renewed focus on the RAS examination. Satya made a strategic decision to temporarily step away from the UPSC CSE, directing his energies toward the RAS with singular determination. This strategic pause bore fruit as he not only cleared the exam but secured an impressive Rank 10.

Amidst his professional commitments, he adopted a pragmatic approach to study, breaking down subjects and setting achievable targets. His job as a Junior Engineer became a backdrop to his intellectual pursuits, with lunch breaks transforming into study sessions, and weekends dedicated to expanding his knowledge.

On being asked if he is going to give more attempts for UPSC CSE, Satya Narayan Bishnoi told Indian Masterminds, “I am positively looking forward to give my attempt in UPSC CSE again. I am resuming my studies for it now.”

INVALUABLE ADVICE

For aspirants eyeing the RAS examination, Mr. Bishnoi imparts invaluable advice. He emphasizes the importance of adhering closely to the syllabus. Answer writing and mock tests, especially for subjects like Hindi, are pivotal components of preparation. Furthermore, he underscores the significance of patience, perseverance, and dedication, traits that carried him through his journey.

He advices the aspirants to stay away from social media during the preparation. “Use only social media platforms like Telegram effectively as it provides many study materials,” Mr. Bishnoi shared.

In the realm of competitive examinations, where each attempt is fraught with unpredictability, Bishnoi’s story shines as a beacon of resilience—a tale of a young man from Dawal who dared to dream beyond the confines of his village, leaving an indelible mark on the sands of Rajasthan.
