According to a research, about 80% of the Indian population is non-vegetarian. The data is almost similar for the world’s population. Out of those 80%, most think about animal rights and welfare. They might have even tried to quit eating meat but couldn’t because they are hardwired to eat and it tastes good. Former IRS officer, Mr. Abhishek Sinha, also went through this dilemma until he found a solution.
After six years of service, he quit the IRS and started India’s first plant-based meat manufacturing company, ‘GoodDot’. Not only does he provide a substitute for meat with a similar taste, but he also helps & rescues animals. In a conversation with Indian Masterminds, he said, “Most people don’t have a problem eating chicken or goat meat, but even if you insist, they won’t eat dog’s meat. The reason is simple. They are conditioned to eat that and don’t feel anything wrong with it. They feel chickens are for eating purposes while they have an emotional connection with a dog.”.
To provide such people with an affordable option, he started his endeavor which has been appreciated worldwide. GoodDot is not only a business for Mr. Sinha, it is his contribution towards saving animals and humans. Every day, he and his team feed more than 150 street animals and work actively for their rescue. The efforts of Team GoodDot have been recognized nationally and internationally.
London-based forward fooding has ranked GoodDot 33rd in the world in the Foodtech 500 list. Gooddot has been cited by The Economist as one of the three global best practices to achieve the UN SDGs. Gooddot was the only company in the world to be served at the Parliament of World Religion in its first-ever Vegan Banquet in 125 years in Toronto, Canada.
In this second part of an exclusive video interview with Mr. Sinha, he explains how Good Dot is helping save the planet, why he chose Neeraj Chopra as his brand ambassador, and much more.
