Raipur, March 28, 2026: Amid the evolving situation in West Asia, Vishnu Deo Sai on Saturday chaired a high-level review meeting through video conferencing with all divisional commissioners, inspectors general of police, district collectors and superintendents of police across the state, directing officials to maintain strict vigilance over the supply of essential commodities and prevent black marketing.
The review meeting, held at the Chief Minister’s residence office in Raipur, focused on the availability and supply mechanisms of petroleum products, LPG cylinders, fertilisers, and other essential commodities. The Chief Minister stressed that there was no shortage of petroleum products, gas cylinders or fertilisers in Chhattisgarh, and appealed to citizens not to believe rumours or misleading reports.
No Situation Similar to COVID, But Vigilance Necessary
During the meeting, Sai said that under the foresight and sensitive leadership of Narendra Modi, the country had successfully faced difficult situations such as the COVID-19 pandemic, and while the current circumstances were different, alertness remained essential.
He said the Centre had already held discussions with states regarding the West Asia crisis and assured uninterrupted supply of essential commodities across the country.
According to the Chief Minister, a state-level control room has been established, while all districts have also been directed to set up district-level control rooms to ensure regular monitoring and rapid dissemination of factual information.
State Helpline Activated for Public Complaints
Chief Secretary Vikas Sheel informed that citizens can now contact the state control room through 1800-233-3663 to report complaints related to domestic gas supply, black marketing or supply disruptions.
He directed officials to publicise the helpline widely so that authentic information reaches citizens quickly and panic can be avoided.
Strict Action Ordered Against Black Marketing and Hoarding
The Chief Minister issued strict instructions that anyone found involved in black marketing or hoarding of essential commodities must face immediate legal action.
Officials were told to regularly inspect storage facilities and monitor stocks at petrol pumps and LPG agencies to ensure uninterrupted supply.
Sai also asked district administrations to function in coordination and ensure that public services continue smoothly under all circumstances.
Oil Companies Assure Normal Supply
Representatives of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Indian Oil Corporation Limited informed the Chief Minister that there is no shortage of petroleum or LPG supply in the state.
Officials stated that:
• Online LPG booking is functioning normally
• Ujjwala gas connections are being processed within 45 days
• General gas connections are being processed within 25 days
• Transportation of petroleum products remains unaffected across Chhattisgarh
Fertilizer Stocks Adequate, Farmers Assured Timely Supply
Officials also confirmed that fertilizer availability remains sufficient across the state.
The Chief Minister directed district administrations to:
• Prevent hoarding of fertilizers
• Conduct daily stock reviews
• Ensure equitable distribution among farmers according to need
A software-based monitoring mechanism for fertilizer distribution was also reviewed to improve transparency and efficiency.
Gas Supply to Hospitals, Railways and Defence Units Prioritised
Special instructions were issued to ensure uninterrupted LPG supply to:
• Hospitals
• Hostels
• Educational institutions
• Railways
• Central government establishments
• Military and paramilitary forces
• Social welfare institutions
• Airport canteens
3,841 Cylinders Seized, 97 FIRs Registered Across State
During the review, officials informed that enforcement teams conducted raids at 335 locations across the state.
While no confirmed black marketing cases were detected, action was taken on hoarding-related intelligence inputs:
• 3,841 gas cylinders seized
• 97 FIRs registered
Border Vigilance Intensified
The Chief Minister also ordered enhanced surveillance at border check posts.
Officials were instructed to monitor:
• Movement of LPG cylinders
• Petrol and diesel transport vehicles
• Sale of fuel in containers
Sale of petrol and diesel in containers has been restricted only to authorised essential establishments such as:
• Mobile tower operators
