New Delhi: The Central government has issued a series of appointments and service-related notifications involving senior officers serving on central deputation, including extension of tenure for officers in the Prime Minister’s Office and Ministry of Home Affairs, along with premature repatriation of two officers to their parent cadres.
The notifications were issued over March 26 and March 27 as part of routine personnel administration at the Centre.
Mangesh Ghildiyal’s Tenure in PMO Extended by One Year
The tenure of Mangesh Ghildiyal, a 2012-batch IAS officer of the Uttarakhand cadre, serving as Director in the Prime Minister’s Office, has been extended for one year beyond March 31, 2026.
With the latest extension, he will continue in the PMO till March 31, 2027.
Ghildiyal has been serving in a key policy coordination role in the Prime Minister’s Office and is considered among younger officers entrusted with important central assignments.
Renowned for his academic brilliance, he secured All India Rank 4 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Before his central deputation, he gained widespread acclaim as the District Magistrate of Rudraprayag and Tehri Garhwal, where he was celebrated for his “people-first” governance and hands-on crisis management. Notably, he once personally taught science at a local girls’ school to address a teacher shortage, cementing his reputation as a dedicated public servant.
Since joining the PMO in October 2020, he has steadily risen through the ranks from Deputy Secretary to Director. In March 2026, the central government extended his tenure until March 31, 2027, reflecting his vital role in coordinating high-level policy initiatives and supporting the Prime Minister’s strategic administrative goals.

Sunil Kumar Gets One-Year Extension in Registrar General’s Office
The government has also extended the tenure of Sunil Kumar, a 1995-batch IRAS officer serving as Additional Registrar General in the office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
His tenure has been extended by one year beyond May 7, 2026.
The extension comes at a significant time as census-related administrative preparations continue under the Registrar General’s office.
Rohit Anand Repatriated to Parent Cadre for Promotion Benefit
Rohit Anand, a 2008-batch IRS (Income Tax) officer serving as Director in the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre.
The repatriation has been approved to enable him to avail promotion benefits in his cadre.
Such early returns to cadre are typically allowed when officers become eligible for higher rank postings in their parent service.
Kunal Kashyap Also Sent Back to Parent Cadre
In another order issued on March 27, Kunal Kashyap, a 2008-batch IRS (Customs and Central Excise) officer serving as Commissioner (Housing) in Delhi Development Authority under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, has also been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre.
His return too has been approved for availing promotion-related benefits.
Routine Personnel Management at Senior Levels
Such extensions and repatriations are part of routine cadre management at the senior administrative level, especially when officers on central deputation become eligible for promotion or when continuity is required in critical policy positions.
The latest decisions reflect balancing of institutional continuity with cadre progression requirements.
