New Delhi: Naba Kumar Pal, an Indian Foreign Service officer of the 2008 batch, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Chad.
He is currently serving as Director in Ministry of External Affairs and is expected to take up the diplomatic assignment shortly.
The appointment forms part of India’s continuing diplomatic engagement in Africa, where New Delhi has been expanding political, developmental and strategic partnerships.
Currently Serving in Consular, Passport and Visa Division
Before his ambassadorial appointment, Naba Kumar Pal was serving as Director in the Consular, Passport and Visa Division of the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi.
The CPV Division handles a wide range of citizen-facing diplomatic functions including passport policy, visa coordination, overseas citizen services and consular support.
His role involved important administrative and policy coordination responsibilities within the ministry.
Previous Foreign Posting in Senegal
Earlier in his diplomatic career, Naba Kumar Pal served as First Secretary in Senegal.
During that posting, he handled political affairs, media engagement and cultural diplomacy, gaining experience in India’s outreach across West Africa.
Officials note that his earlier Africa experience is expected to support his upcoming assignment in Chad.
India’s Expanding Engagement with Chad
India and Chad have gradually strengthened ties in recent years through cooperation in development partnership, capacity building, education and multilateral coordination.
As Ambassador, Naba Kumar Pal will oversee India’s diplomatic engagement in the Central African nation and work on further strengthening bilateral cooperation.
