Union Minister for minority affairs, Mr. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi felicitated youths belonging from minority communities upon cracking the civil services examination, 2019. The function was organized at Antyodaya Bhawan, New Delhi on August 18.
As many as 22 youngsters from poor, weak, and deprived sections have cleared one of India’s toughest examinations with the assistance of free coaching under the ‘Nai Udaan’ scheme, being run by the Ministry of Minority Affairs.
In the presence of Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region &MoS in Prime Minister’s Office Dr. Jitendra Singh and Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs & Sports and MoS, Minority Affairs Mr. Kiren Rijiju, Mr. Naqvi highlighted that the government has provided a positive atmosphere to youth belonging from the minority communities where their capabilities are being recognized, promoted and protected. As a result, 145 people belonging to the minority communities have been selected for the prestigious civil services.
He said that a large scale free coaching programme is being devised and implemented, for youths belonging to notified minority communities preparing for UPSC examinations and similarly tough examinations like medical, engineering, banking, administrative, and competitive examinations through various institutions and organizations.
He added that, during the last six years, Government’s commitment to “Inclusive Empowerment” has ensured scholarships to four crore 60 lakh Minority students. Also, 50 percent beneficiaries of these scholarship schemes are girls. Due to this effort, the rate of school dropping by first has also been reduced.
Under the “Pradhanmantri Jan Vikas Karykram” (PMJVK), more than 34,000 infrastructure projects including school, college, hospital, community centre, common service centre, ITI, polytechnic, girls hostel, Sadbhavna Mandap, Hunar Hub, etc have been developed in backward and deprived Minority concentrated areas across the country in the last 6 years. The Government has expanded development programmes for Minorities in 308 districts of the country in the last six years.
