Swapneel Paul, an Indian Administrative Service ( IAS) officer of 2018 batch, has stepped in as the new Sub Divisional Officer (Civil) of Rangia, Kamrup. Earlier, he was posted as an assistant commissioner in Nagoan.
In an interview, Paul said, ” Since this is my first independent posting after the complition of probation, I am looking forward to the new set of challenges and opportunities in the new place”.

A native of Dimapur’s Netaji Colony, Paul scored 64th rank in his civil services examination (UPSC). He is a Sylheti by origin and also has an ancestral home in Lakhipur, Cachar district. Swapneel did his graduation from the National Institute of Technology, Silchar and went on to become an electrical engineer in 2012 before going to Delhi to prepare for UPSC exam.
Furthermore, Paul studied in Holy Cross, Dimapur and came 6th in the school leaving examination of the state. Then, he pursued higher secondary from Army School, Narangi, Guwahati.
Paul is of the opinion that his new role as the sub divisional officer will add on to his experience and bolster his learning in the field of civil services. He feels that he can gain a lot from working during the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic.
