In September, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) issued multiple summon’s to two top officials of the Maharashtra government, Mr. Sitaram Kunte (Chief Secretary) and acting DGP Mr. Sanjay Pandey. They both were summoned in connection with a case filed against former Home Minister Mr. Anil Deshmukh.
In response, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had said “give them a befitting reply”, sources said. After that, both the officers in their response denied to give any reply to the summons and asked the CBI to send their investigators team to their own offices for any enquiry and they also did not appear to CBI office on any of the dates. According to them, it was against protocol to appear to the CBI office. It was the first time in recent memory that the state’s Chief Secretary, as well as DGP, had been summoned by the probe agency. Now the Central agency chose to email them its question to proceed further in its probe.
