IPS officer Kuldeep Singh Chahal will soon take the charge of Chandigarh as the new senior superintendent of police (SSP). Before clearing UPSC, Chahal was an assistant sub-inspector in Chandigarh. The 2009 batch officer is currently the SSP of Mohali. He will be taking place of Nilambari Jagadale in Chandigarh. Former SSP Nilambari Jagadale’s term had ended in August and the post was vacant since then.
Previously, Chahal was the officer of Punjab Cadre. Recently, Ministry of Home Affairs had proposed his name for inter-cadre deputation. According to a notification issued by the department of personnel and training’s on Monday, the appointments committee of the cabinet has approved the proposal of MHA and Chahal has been deputed to AGMUT cadre. He will be serving in this cadre for the next three years.
Let it be noted that the Punjab government had sent three names for the post which included Chahal, AIG (counter intelligence) Patil Ketan Baliram and SSP of Ludhiana Vivek Sheel Soni. Before Chahal, Soni’s name was recommended to the Home ministry by the UT administration in July.
