Senior IAS officer Manoj Saunik has been appointed as the next chief secretary of Maharashtra. His appointment letter was issued by Nitin Gadre, additional chief secretary (services) in the general administration department (GAD).
Mr. Saunik will succeed Manu Kumar Shrivastav, who is retiring on April 30.
Mr. Shrivastava has been posted as state commissioner (right to services) post his retirement for a period of five years.
Mr. Saunik, who is a 1987 batch officer, will serve in the top position till his retirement in December this year. His main competition for the post was from his wife Sujata Sainik who is also a 1987 batch.
While Mr. Saunik was holding the charge of Additional Chief Secretary of Finance and Public Works Department, Ms. Sujata Saunik is the additional chief secretary (GAD). She is due to retire in 2025 and likely to succeed her husband to the post of CS.
