In a significant move in Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan led state government has decided to continues its trend of appointing retired IAS, IPS officers in top government posts, even in its second term.
The latest example is recently retired chief secretary Dr V P Joy who is now appointed as the chairperson of the Public Sector Recruitment Board.
While, there is a growing criticism in the state that only the top brass who align with the government’s principles are considered for such posts, the government, however, says that the appointments are made based on the qualifications and expertises of the officers.
The government claims that a lot of money gets saved through such appointments. Plus, the administration believes that the experience such officers bring to the table is invaluable.
