Two retired IAS officers of Tamil Nadu cadre have been appointed as expert members of the NGT for a period of four years.

Two names of retired Tamil Nadu cadre IAS officers- Girija Vaidyanathan and K Satyagopal- have been approved by the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet to the post of expert member of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) for 4-year.
Girija Vaidyanathan is a 1981 IAS batch officer. She retired from service as Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu. She has a postgraduate degree in physics. Vaidyanathan played a key role in the formulation of rules for the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.
K Satyagopal is a 1987 batch IAS officer. He served as Additional Chief Secretary and Commissioner of Revenue Administration. He is known as a tough taskmaster in bureaucratic circles. Satyagopal played a pivotal role in shaping the Tamil Nadu’s disaster response following cyclone Gaja.
