Indian Foreign Service officer Hemant H Kotalwar has been appointed as the next Ambassador to Finland. He is an IFS officer from the 1996 batch currently serving as India’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic. India and Finland have strong ties, and 2024 will be the 75th year of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two.
Mr. Kotalwar, who will soon take the charge in Finland, is an alumni of BITS Pilani, Rajasthan. He has served in the Indian Embassy in Brussels between 1998-2000. He also briefly served as Under Secretary in MEA on the Pakistan Desk. Besides that, he was posted as Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of India to WTO, Geneva from 2011 to 2014, the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
