The Gujarat government has moved two IAS officers to the Election Commission. Dr. Kuldeep Arya (2009 batch), Additional Industries Commissioner, has been shifted to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer in Gujarat.

2012 batch IAS officer PD Palsana, Joint Secretary of Agriculture, Farmers Welfare, and Cooperation, has been assigned as Joint Chief Electoral Officer in the Chief Electoral Officer’s office in Gandhinagar.

In Gujarat, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) reports to the Election Commission of India (ECI).
