Ms. Arunmozhi, the Chief Development Officer (CDO) of Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, has spearheaded a groundbreaking initiative known as Brand ARGA, aimed at revolutionizing the marketing prospects of local self-help groups and farmer producer organizations (FPOs) in the district. The project addresses a crucial issue faced by these groups – the lack of proper branding and packaging for their diverse range of products, including pickles, jams, flour, namkeen, gram flour, noodles, and more.
The genesis of Brand ARGA emerged from the realization that despite producing high-quality goods, these self-help groups struggled to make a mark in local markets due to inadequate packaging and branding.
The impact of Brand ARGA has been substantial, with numerous products from various self-help groups receiving a newfound identity under the ARGA brand.
What sets Brand ARGA apart is its comprehensive approach, covering branding and packaging challenges faced by all local small business self-help groups, FPOs, and Khadi and Village Industries Commission’s (KVIC) ‘One District One Product’ (ODOP) initiative across the Gonda district. Acting as an umbrella organization, Brand ARGA provides a platform for local entrepreneurs to launch their products under a unified brand identity, facilitating access to both local and international markets.
By adhering to stringent packaging standards and leveraging effective branding strategies, Brand ARGA has emerged as a beacon of hope for rural livelihood enhancement. Ms. Arunmozhi’s leadership has played a pivotal role in creating an efficient and inclusive platform that not only addresses the immediate needs of self-help groups but also fosters sustainable economic growth in the region.
