President Murmu Delivers A Profound Message On The Eve Of IWD

President Murmu said, "Even today, women face several challenges which we need to address"

To mark the auspicious eve of International Women’s Day (IWD), the honourable President of India, Ms Droupadi Murmu addressed the republic and delivered a profound message.

She said, “On the occasion of International Women’s Day, I extend my heartiest congratulations and best wishes to all my fellow citizens, especially women.”

In her speech, President Murmu spoke at length about how the IWD is a sublime occasion to recognise the achievements of women and their efforts in raising awareness about gender equality and women’s rights.

She said, “It is an important occasion (IWD) to emphasise the need to provide equal opportunities for women and empower them in all spheres of life. Even today, women face several challenges which we need to address. Women are setting new benchmarks in all fields varying from science and technology to medicine, space, armed forces and sports. A glimpse could be seen in the remarkable display of women’s power and leadership during this year’s Republic Day Parade.”

She concluded her address by extending cordial hopes for the bright future of all Indian women and the success of Women’s Day celebrations. As a woman who shattered numerous glass ceilings to become India’s first tribal and second President, H.E. Murmu is an inspiration for all women in India.
