On March 10th, NLC India Limited entered into an MoU with the Government of Rajasthan’s RVUNL to set up a 125 MW Lignite Based Power Plant and a 1000 MW Solar Power Plant. The signing of the MoU was attended by esteemed guests like Mr. Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, the incumbent CMD of NLC India Ltd, and Mr. Devender Singhvi of RVUNL.
Mr. Pralhad Joshi, the incumbent Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines, Rajasthan CM Mr. Bhajan Lal Sharma, Mr. R K Singh, the incumbent Cabinet Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy, the Deputy Chief Minister, Ms. Diya Kumari, Mr. Sudhansh Pant (1991 batch IAS), the incumbent Chief Secretary of the Government of Rajasthan, and Mr. Amrit Lal Meena (1989 batch Bihar cadre IAS officer), the incumbent Coal Secretary in the Center, graced the event with their coveted presence.
An investment worth more than Rs 7000 Crores has been entailed in the MoU between NLC India Limited and RRVUNL, dedicated to fund notable projects like the establishment of a 125 MW Lignite Pit-head Thermal Power Plant in Bikaner district and a massive 1000 MW Solar Power Plant — a testament to NLCIL’s commitment to renewable energy initiatives. Additionally, a LoI for the setup of an 810 MW solar power plant has already been issued, taking place simultaneously with the corporate plan of NLC India to become a power major of 17 GW capacity with more than 6 GW renewable capacity by 2030. The MoU exchange signifies a resolute step towards sustainable and robust energy infrastructure, aligning with the Nation’s Ambitious Renewable Energy targets.
During the pristine ceremony, the Coal Secretary of India, Mr. Meena, expressed confidence about how the infrastructure and land support provided by the government of Rajasthan would go a long way in bolstering the nation’s energy security.
