IFS N Luikham Found Dead in Apparent Suicide, Sister Demands CBI Probe

His sister has written a letter to the Chief Secretary of Meghalaya, urging for a thorough investigation into her brother’s death

On the morning of March 13, a shocking incident unfolded as Mr. N. Luikham, a 2003 batch IFS officer, was found dead by apparent suicide in his official residence at 7:30 am. The circumstances surrounding his death have raised serious concerns and led to allegations of external pressure and harassment.

The IFS Association has come forward, claiming that Mr. Luikham was under immense pressure from the mining lobby within the state. According to their allegations, the lobby went to extreme lengths by orchestrating false sexual harassment charges against him through a junior officer.

This troubling revelation has prompted Mr. Luikham’s sister to take action. She has written an application to the Chief Secretary of Meghalaya, urging for a thorough investigation into her brother’s death. Specifically, she has demanded a CBI probe to uncover the truth behind the alleged pressure and harassment that may have led to this tragic outcome.

The incident has sent shockwaves through bureaucratic and legal circles, highlighting the need for transparency and accountability in dealing with such sensitive issues within government institutions. Authorities are now faced with the task of conducting a fair and impartial investigation to bring justice to Mr. Luikham’s memory and address the broader concerns raised by this tragic event.
