The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) and the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) held a pre-event conference for Global Wind Day at the Welcome Hotel in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
The speech of MNRE’s Joint Secretary (Wind) Lalit Bohra, delivered by IREDA’s Director (Finance) Dr. BK Mohanty, emphasized the rapid advancement of renewable energy across India and highlighted the government’s efforts, particularly in Odisha. The National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) estimates India’s onshore wind potential at 1,164 GW at 150 meters above ground level, with Odisha contributing 12 GW to this potential. Bohra could not attend the conference in person.
IREDA CMD Pradip Kumar Das, in his keynote address, highlighted Odisha’s significant potential for green energy and the promising opportunities within the state. He noted Odisha’s potential to lead in green hydrogen projects, underscoring the state’s crucial role in promoting sustainable energy initiatives.
