The PSU NHPC Renewable Energy Limited (NHPC-REL) has recently joined hands with Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) to achieve the full solarization of government buildings. This landmark collaboration initiates an ambitious project aimed at securing 100% solar coverage for these structures through RoofTop Solar Projects often referred to as RTS Projects, across central ministries, states, and union territories. The initiative supports the broader goal of transforming the energy landscape for public institutions under the Central Government’s PM Surya Ghar Yojana.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has appointed NHPC Limited as the Scheme Implementing Partner (SIP) for the RTS Projects, to be executed through its subsidiary, NHPC Renewable Energy Limited (NHPC-REL). TPREL will apply its industry expertise to ensure the projects’ efficiency and timely execution.
The MoU was signed on July 17th at the NHPC Office Complex in Faridabad between Mr. Deepesh Nanda, CEO & MD of TPREL, and Mr. S P Rathour, CEO of NHPC-REL. Other eminent officials like Mr. R P Goyal, CMD, Mr. R K Chaudhary, Director (Technical) and Director (in-Charge) of Projects, Mr. Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel), Mr. V R Shrivastava, ED (REGH) NHPC, as well as Mr. Bhavesh Bhayani and Mr. Vikrant Dhankar from TPREL, were present during the signing.
This flagship partnership is expected to help India’s renewable energy targets in the long run and establish Solarization as a new norm in the sector.
