PSU Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has successfully emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for a significant project awarded by the Southern Railway that involves the provision of Multi-Section Digital Axle Counters (MSDAC) with existing Digital Communication Terminal Controllers (DCTC) at various stations, serving as dual detection systems. This strengthens RVNL’s position as a key player in India’s railway infrastructure development, contributing to the ongoing efforts to enhance the country’s transportation network.
RVNL has been tasked with replacing the remaining Audio Frequency Track Circuits (AFTCs) in the MAS-GDR (Chennai Central to Gudur) and MSB-TBM (Chennai Beach to Tambaram) automatic block signalling sections within the Chennai Division. This contract is deemed crucial for enhancing the efficiency and safety of the automatic block signalling system, which is vital for the smooth operation of trains in these busy sections of the Southern Railway.
The total value of the contract is ₹111.39 crore — a significant investment reflecting the commitment to modernizing railway infrastructure and improving operational reliability.
