International Women’s Day is being celebrated all across the world with full fervor and joy today on 8 March 2021. First observed in 1911, the day marks the historic journey of women to get equal rights and better lives. The day is also observed to recognize the social, cultural, economic and political achievements of women in all walks of life.
This year the theme of International Women’s Day (IWD) is #ChooseToChallenge. As 2020 was a year full of challenges and many women all around the world stood out to accept it, hence this year the day is being observed with the message of ‘Choose to Challenge’. The message further reads, “A challenged world is an alert world and from challenge comes change. So, let’s all choose to challenge.”
Due to the loss of lives and livelihood caused by the Covid-pandemic, many women officers in India turned into warriors to deal with a situation they never experienced before. Expressing such courage and confidence, these women officers are making a statement in a country like India where women have suffered a lot to make it up to this day.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2021, many bureaucrats from all over the country have shared their greetings and message on various social media platforms. Some of them are collated down below:
2013 batch IFS officer, Sudha Ramen shared a tweet thread of her paintings, sketches, and messages while observing International Women’s Day 2021. Her paintings, sketches, and messages represent a strong woman who has equal rights, dreams, aspirations, decisions, etc.
Senior IAS officer Ratna Prabha sharing her greetings on IWD, tweeted “A day for us Women!! Lets feel Special today.. tho every day is for all of us!”
Ms. Smita Sabharwal shared a picture with other prominent officers and bestowed her greetings “to the mover and shaker and the homemakers”.
Senior IPS officer Swati Lakra also took to Twitter by saying that women should be celebrated not just on this day but everyday.
IAS officer Sonal Goel while observing IWD, shared about those women officers and commandos who excel in contributing to the society through determination and grit.
IAS officer Priyanka Shukla observed IWD by sharing the statistics of female vaccinated in Chhattisgarh, she further said “every single day is a women’s day for us.”
Mr. Ravindra Kumar who is also known as IAS Everester took to Twitter to greet everyone on this auspicious day. He also mentioned about his new book which is a compilation of poems dedicated for women. The name of the book is ‘Nai Ankhen’ and it released earlier this year.
Senior IPS officer Dipanshu Kabra while observing IWD, shared a motivational video of a small girl who is fighting a big man while practicing Judo Karate. While sharing the video he wrote that “women are capable of facing every challenge and defeating it. They just require encouragement and equal opportunities.”
Retired Indian diplomat Syed Akbaruddin (IFS) who served as India’s permanent representative at the United Nations at New York from 2016 to 2020, gave an artistic tribute to the diverse journeys of some of the many, many heroic women of modern India.
IAS officer Arabinda K Padhee also observed the IWD as he shared his thoughts on the women force in the Indian agriculture. His message focused on the theme ‘ChooseToChallenge’ as he stated some ways to empower them
IAS officer Dinesh Kumar also greeted people on IWD by saying, “The word ‘Women’ consists of many of her incarnations (forms) !!”
Commissioner of Delhi Police S N Srivastava congratulated all the police officers in Delhi Police who shoulder all the responsibilities and show complete empowerment.
