The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the release of a reserve list for the Civil Services Mains Examination (CSE Mains) 2023, responding to a request from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). A total of 120 candidates have been recommended for appointment to fill remaining vacancies from the Civil Services Examination.
The newly recommended candidates include 88 from the General category, 5 from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), 23 from Other Backward Classes (OBC), 3 from Scheduled Castes (SC), and 1 from Scheduled Tribes (ST). The detailed list of names and roll numbers can be accessed on the official UPSC website at upsc.gov.in.
UPSC has specified that the candidature of 30 of the recommended candidates is provisional, and the DoPT will be directly contacting these individuals regarding their appointments.
The initial results for the UPSC CSE 2023 were released on April 16, 2024, when the commission had recommended 1,016 candidates for various prestigious positions, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and other central services and group A and B vacancies. This recruitment cycle was conducted to fill 1,143 total vacancies.
The reserve list now comprises candidates ranked in order of merit following the last individual recommended in April across different categories, further enhancing the pool of qualified candidates for these vital public service roles.
