As the retirement date of the current Director General of Police (DGP) of Madhya Pradesh, Mr. Sudhir Kumar Saxena (1992-batch IPS officer), approaches on November 30th, 2024, the process for selecting his successor has started gaining momentum.
The state government has submitted a panel of nine candidates to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), which will review the list and return three names to the state government. Additionally, decisions are being made regarding the appointments for the heads of the Home Guard, Police Housing Corporation, and the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW). Among the top contenders is IPS Kailash Makwana (1988 batch), who is currently in the lead, with reports suggesting that his Confidential Reports (CR) have been upgraded by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. Other prominent candidates are IPS Ajay Sharma (1989 batch) and IPS Arvind Kumar (1988 batch).
