Nation first, is a slogan of the armed forced.  An IAS officer from Chhattisgarh is living it everyday. Often dignitaries are honoured with a badge in any cultural or government event most of whom discard it layer. But 2013-batch IAS officer PS Dhruv, present collector of Chhattisgarh’s newly created district, Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur, came up with something different. Mr. Dhruv has taken a vow to always wear the army badge he received in a cultural program on his chest. Dhruv’s respect towards the army in his behaviour is being appreciated.

December 7, on the occasion of Armed Forces Flag Day, soldiers and their family members of the district who made special contribution to the army, were honoured in the collector’s office. Collector PS Dhruv was also given a badge on this occasion. It’s been almost 37 days since then, but Dhruv comes to office everyday wearing that badge.

Speaking to Indian Masterminds, Mr. Dhruv said, “I was given this badge by the officer of the Sainik Welfare Board. Along with me, many other dignitaries were also honoured with the army badge. I have decided to wear it everyday. My aim is to show respect towards the army.”

He further said, “Army protects our internal unity, sovereignty and integrity. That is why it is the duty of every citizen to show respect for it.”

WHY ARMED FORCES FLAG DAY CELEBRATED

The day also pays tribute to the hundreds of thousands of men who have died defending the country. The main purpose of celebrating this is to express gratitude to the soldiers of the Indian Army and to collect funds for the army, which is being required after independence for the welfare of the personnel and army of the Indian Armed Forces. On this day, fundraising is done by distributing the flag, the insignia of the armed forces. The three colors (red, dark blue and light blue) in this flag represent the three armies. If anyone wants to give his contribution to the army, then he can give his contribution by visiting the website of Kendriya Sainik Board.
