Today, bureaucrats from all over the country are standing at the forefront to fight the pandemic that is emitting death and sickness all over us. Out of the many states of India having the highest number of active cases and deaths, Uttar Pradesh stands at number six, according to a report, with 9,09,405 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 10,159 deaths.

IAS officers from Uttar Pradesh are continuously bringing out new inventions and projects to help their people as much as they can, in this time of the atrocity. District Magistrate of Bulandsheher, Mr. Ravindra Kumar has taken the reins in his hands and is working to provide comfort to his people.

In an exclusive conversation with Indian Masterminds, he talks about the work that he has been doing during the second wave of coronavirus.

Mr. Kumar is a true Covid warrior

TELE MEDICINE OPDs

To consult a doctor, the patient usually visits his/her clinic, tells him about his grievance, gets tested, and receives the required treatment or medication. Such is the case with every government or private hospital.

However, in today’s time of Covid19, it might be unsafe to visit a doctors’ clinic to get the consultation and acquire the medicines. Therefore, Mr. Kumar came up with an idea to change this and make the process more easy and comfortable for the patients.

“We have attached a chemist store with every hospital or clinic in the district. The patient can call the doctor to get consulted about the disease. The doctor will inquire about the symptoms and prescribe him the required medications on the call itself. In case the patient is not able to understand the medicine’s name, the doctor will directly contact the chemist and explain it to him,” Mr. Kumar told Indian Masterminds.

Furthermore, the patient can either go to the chemist to collect the medicine or may also choose to get it delivered to their doorstep. “Through this, even the uneducated ones will receive the correct prescribed medicines by the doctor, right in their home.”

Helpline control numbers for different hospitals

DISTRICT COVID CONTROL ROOM

Mr. Kumar has opened up a District Covid Control Room that has about seven to eight lines connected to 5,992 mobile phones. Anybody who is showing symptoms of Covid can call on that number and the team forwards the concern to the respective Primary Sampling Units.

“Every unit has a Rapid Response Team (RRT) with an ambulance, few doctors, and medical lab technicians who go to their place and take their samples. If they test positive, they are further hospitalized or prescribed for home isolation, according to their condition,” the Magistrate told Indian Masterminds.

MOBILE TESTING TEAMS

Mobile testing teams also visit the people who show symptoms, at their doorstep, collect their samples and send them for testing.

“Antigen test shows the result immediately and RT-PCR samples are sent to the lab for testing and the reports come within a day or two. The entire thing is done without any cost,” says Mr. Kumar.
