Indian Masterminds Stories

As we celebrate World Environment Day, it’s essential to recognize the companies making significant strides towards a greener planet. GAIL (India) Limited, a leader in the natural gas sector, stands out for its commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability. Through groundbreaking projects and cutting-edge technology, GAIL is transforming how we think about clean energy and environmental advocacy.

Watch the video here:

This World Environment Day, GAIL initiated a unique and impactful activity by distributing seed balls to its employees. These seed balls contain a variety of seeds, including sunflower, tomato, wildflower, chili, and marigold. Employees are encouraged to disperse these seed balls, which will help rejuvenate the land and restore natural habitats. This initiative not only promotes biodiversity but also engages employees in hands-on environmental conservation, fostering a deeper connection with nature.

“Waah Kya Energy Hai” Campaign: Promoting Clean Fuel

On June 3, GAIL launched the “Waah Kya Energy Hai” campaign to highlight the benefits of eco-friendly fuels like CNG and piped natural gas. This campaign, designed to engage retail natural gas consumers across India, features a captivating mini-series that tells the heartwarming and relatable stories of the Mishra family. These 4-5 minute short films showcase the family’s journey in embracing cleaner fuel options, blending wit, emotion, and relatability to encourage viewers to consider switching to clean fuel. The series will be promoted through digital and social media channels, including GAIL’s YouTube channel, banners, and influencer engagements, ensuring widespread reach and impact.

Insights from GAIL’s Leadership: Net Zero Emissions and Hydrogen Energy

In a conversation with Mr. Jyoti Kumar, General Manager of Corporate Communication at GAIL, gained valuable insights into helping in India’s vision for achieving Net Zero Emissions by 2040. Mr. Kumar emphasized the critical role of hydrogen in generating clean energy, highlighting GAIL’s commitment to exploring and investing in hydrogen technologies. This forward-thinking strategy is essential for addressing the pressing environmental challenges of our time and demonstrates GAIL’s dedication to leading the way in sustainable energy solutions.

“Hawa Badlo” Campaign: A Legacy of Environmental Advocacy

GAIL’s dedication to environmental awareness is not a recent development. Since 2016, the “Hawa Badlo” campaign has been promoting air quality improvement in Indian cities. This initiative began as a Clean Air & Natural Gas Advocacy mission and has since expanded to include a variety of engaging activities and content.

One of the campaign’s notable events was the Green Ride from Mumbai to Delhi, where participants cycled to raise awareness about air pollution and the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. The “Hawa Badlo” campaign also includes partnerships with National Award-winning films and the acclaimed web series “Hawa Badle Hassu,” which features leading celebrities and entertainers to reach a broader audience and inspire action.

A Comprehensive Approach to Sustainability

GAIL’s comprehensive approach to sustainability encompasses innovative initiatives, strategic campaigns, and forward-thinking leadership. From distributing seed balls to promote biodiversity to launching engaging campaigns that advocate for clean energy, GAIL is actively shaping a sustainable future.

As we reflect on World Environment Day, it’s clear that GAIL’s commitment to environmental stewardship goes beyond mere words. Through sustained advocacy, public engagement, and technological innovation, GAIL is driving meaningful change and creating a movement for cleaner air and a healthier environment.
