New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has appointed four senior IRS (Income Tax) officers as new members to the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), effective from April 17.
The appointments fill four vacant member posts in the board, which is currently led by Ravi Agrawal as Chairperson. Previously, members Ramesh Narain Parbat and Prabodh Seth were handling multiple charges.
The newly appointed CBDT members are:
- Pankaj Kumar Mishra (IRS IT: 1989)
- Sanjay Bahadur (IRS IT: 1989)
- L. Rajasekhar Reddy (IRS IT: 1989)
- G. Aparna Rao (IRS IT: 1989)
Notably, Pankaj Kumar Mishra is empanelled for Secretary-equivalent posts in the Government of India. He was posted as Principal CC IT (MP & Chhattisgarh) in August 2024 and later appointed Member (Finance) at the Atomic Energy Commission in October 2024.
Sanjay Bahadur is currently serving as Principal Director General of Income Tax (Training) in Delhi, while L. Rajasekhar Reddy holds the position of PCCIT (TDS) for Chennai and the Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Regions. G. Aparna Rao is serving as PCCIT-1 for Bengaluru in Karnataka & Goa Regions. Both Rajasekhar Reddy and Aparna Rao were empanelled as Principal CCIT in March 2025 at Apex Scale (Level 17 of the pay matrix).
These appointments are expected to bring valuable experience and leadership to the CBDT, which plays a crucial role in overseeing direct tax administration in India.
