Central Government Transfers Two Judges from Allahabad High Court to Patna and Andhra Pradesh High Courts

In a recent official notification issued by the Ministry of Law & Justice, Department of Justice (Appointments Division), two prominent judges from the Allahabad High Court have been transferred to different High Courts in India. The transfers were made under the powers vested in the President of India by Article 222 (1) of the Constitution, following consultations with the Chief Justice of India.

Transfer of Justice Sanjay Kumar Singh to Patna High Court

Mr. Justice Sanjay Kumar Singh, currently serving as a Judge at the Allahabad High Court, has been transferred to the Patna High Court. The President, after careful consideration and consultation with the Chief Justice of India, has directed Justice Singh to assume charge of his new office in Patna.

Justice Singh’s transfer is expected to bring his valuable judicial experience to the Patna High Court, contributing to the efficient dispensation of justice in the state of Bihar.

Justice Donadi Ramesh Appointed to Andhra Pradesh High Court

In a related development, Mr. Justice Donadi Ramesh, also a sitting Judge of the Allahabad High Court, has been transferred to the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The President’s notification directs Justice Ramesh to take charge of his new role at the Andhra Pradesh High Court promptly.

Justice Ramesh’s move is anticipated to strengthen the judiciary in Andhra Pradesh, where his legal expertise and judicial acumen will serve the interests of justice.

Constitutional Provisions and Process

Both transfers have been executed under Article 222 (1) of the Constitution of India, which empowers the President to transfer a Judge from one High Court to another after consulting the Chief Justice of India. This constitutional provision ensures flexibility and uniformity in the administration of justice across the country.
