Chandigarh: In a major boost to Punjab’s premium tourism and hospitality sector, a ₹400 crore Trident Hotel project will be established in Amritsar. The project, a joint initiative by the Oberoi Group and SpringAge Solutions Private Limited, is expected to generate employment for around 350 people and further strengthen the state’s growing investment landscape.
The announcement was made by Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora, highlighting the project’s potential to enhance tourism infrastructure and economic activity in the region.
Strategic Location and Project Details
The new hotel will feature 150 premium rooms and will be built on approximately three acres along the Amritsar-Tarn Taran Road, just 3 kilometers from the Golden Temple.
Key highlights of the project include:
- High-end hospitality infrastructure supporting Amritsar’s luxury tourism segment
- Joint development combining Oberoi Group’s global hospitality expertise with SpringAge’s strong local presence
- First Trident-branded hotel in Punjab, marking a significant milestone for the brand in the state
- Construction timeline: Expected to begin in July 2026 and complete by March 2029
This greenfield project will contribute significantly to Amritsar’s tourism appeal and premium hospitality options.
Employment and Economic Impact
The Trident Hotel project is projected to create around 350 direct jobs, boosting local employment opportunities and encouraging economic activities in nearby areas. Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora emphasized that such initiatives not only enhance the tourism sector but also stimulate local businesses and services, contributing to overall regional development.
Trident and Oberoi Group Portfolio
Currently, the Trident brand operates nine hotels across India, while the Oberoi Group has 32 operational hotels with 10 projects in the pipeline. This Amritsar project will be the first large-scale greenfield Trident hotel in Punjab, further expanding the brand’s footprint and luxury hospitality offerings in the state.
Investment in Punjab and Tourism Growth
Highlighting Punjab’s investment climate, Minister Arora stated:
- FY 2025-26: ₹59,448 crore in investments, creating an estimated 1,33,221 jobs
- Cumulative since April 2022: ₹1,59,947 crore in investments, generating approximately 5,57,664 employment opportunities
He noted that such high-value projects are positioning Punjab as a hub for premium tourism and investments, while also promoting Amritsar’s global religious and cultural significance to international visitors.

Invest Punjab played a crucial role in finalizing this MoU by coordinating with both parties over the past 18 months, ensuring smooth execution of the project and supporting Punjab’s goal of becoming a top destination for premium tourism and hospitality investments.
