Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his joy at the notable increase in the population of leopards in India. He said that this significant increase in leopard numbers is a testament to India’s unwavering dedication to biodiversity. He also complimented all those who are part of the various collective efforts towards wildlife protection, paving the way for a sustainable coexistence.
India’s leopard population is estimated at 13,874 presently, up from 12,852 in 2018.
Earlier, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav, while releasing the latest leopard status report, had disclosed that Central India leads with Madhya Pradesh boasting the highest population of 3,907 leopards.
