In a major announcement for teacher aspirants, CM Nitish Kumar has confirmed that TRE-4 (Teacher Recruitment Examination) will be held in 2025, followed by TRE-5 in 2026. Posting on social media platform X, the Chief Minister also stated that the State Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) will be conducted prior to TRE-5, ensuring a structured recruitment calendar for aspiring educators.

Significantly, CM Nitish Kumar declared that the state government has directed amendments in recruitment rules to ensure priority for domicile candidates of Bihar in teacher recruitment, a move to be implemented starting from TRE-4 itself. This directive aims to address a longstanding demand of teacher aspirants across the state.
CM’s Emphasis on Strengthening Education
Reaffirming his commitment to the education sector, the Chief Minister said, “Since the formation of our government in November 2005, we have continuously worked to strengthen the education system. A large number of teachers have been appointed to improve educational outcomes.”
He added that policy reforms are being introduced to give preference to Bihar’s residents, acknowledging the concerns raised by student groups seeking 90–95% reservation for locals in state jobs.
Domicile Demand and Student Protest
The CM’s statement comes in the backdrop of ongoing student protests at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, where aspirants have been demanding a domicile-based reservation policy in government recruitments. Their concern centers on candidates from other states filling posts meant for Bihar’s youth, thereby reducing local representation.
Following CM Nitish Kumar’s declaration, the Janata Dal (United) spokesperson Mr. Neeraj Kumar welcomed the move and took a swipe at the opposition. Without directly naming the RJD, he remarked, “Those who sent a Haryanvi and a Singaporean to Rajya Sabha should now explain if they can guarantee tickets to deserving Biharis.”
He added that Nitish Kumar has defended the rights of Bihari youth, and accused the opposition of speaking in double standards.
The announcement is seen as both a strategic response to growing student unrest and a policy measure to bolster local participation in Bihar’s education sector, setting the tone for recruitment drives in the coming years.
