Patna: Visitors to the world-famous Harihar region Sonepur Mela can now access not only entertainment and cultural attractions but also important land-related information, thanks to a special initiative by the Revenue and Land Reforms Department of Bihar.
Dedicated Revenue Stall for Land Services
The department has set up a dedicated stall at the mela where attendees can obtain land maps at a nominal charge of ₹150 per page. In addition to physical maps, visitors can also learn about various online land services offered by the department. The mela, held along the banks of the Gandak River from 9 November to 10 December, provides an excellent platform for citizens to access land-related information conveniently.

Educational Booklets on Land Records and Services
The revenue stall is also distributing affordable booklets to help people understand land records and procedures. These include guides for learning the traditional Kaithi script, the Bihar Land Booklet for details on revenue records, and booklets explaining online services. These resources aim to educate the public about revenue documentation and the processes available digitally.
Online Services via CSC Counters
To make land services more accessible, the department is offering online services like Dakhil-Kharij, Parimarjan Plus, and other revenue-related processes through CSC (Common Service Centers) counters at the mela. This initiative is particularly beneficial for rural visitors, who can now access key land services on-site without visiting government offices.
Encouraging Visitors to Avail Facilities
The Revenue and Land Reforms Department has urged all mela visitors to take advantage of these facilities at the dedicated stall. This year, the Sonepur Mela is not only a hub of cultural activities and entertainment but also serves as an important venue for public service delivery, offering citizens convenient access to land records and related online services.
Bringing Government Services Closer to the People
This initiative reflects the state government’s effort to integrate public services with large cultural events, making it easier for citizens to complete essential tasks while participating in the mela. By combining tradition, entertainment, and governance, Bihar is ensuring that important services reach people in a timely and accessible manner.
