Ranchi: In a major push toward strengthening science and innovation in government schools, the Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI) has joined hands with the Unit of Science and Educational Development (UNISED) to set up Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) across six government schools in Ranchi. The initiative aims to empower young students with hands-on learning experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
A Vision to Transform Young Innovators
The collaborative project, titled “Transforming Young Innovators: Atal Tinkering Labs in Six Government Schools of Ranchi,” is conceptualized to nurture creativity and problem-solving skills among students. By providing access to modern tools, digital resources, and guided mentorship, the ATLs will serve as innovation hubs where children can design, experiment, and build prototypes—laying the foundation for future scientific thinkers and technological innovators.
The Agreement and Its Significance
The agreement formalizing this initiative was signed by Mr. Sandeep Kumar Bhagat, CMPDI’s Nodal Officer for CSR, and Ms. Rashmi Kumari, Programme Director of UNISED. The signing marks a strong commitment by both organizations to uplift educational infrastructure and foster a culture of innovation within government school systems.
Project Duration and Financial Commitment
This is a four-year-long project spanning from 2025 to 2029, backed by a substantial budget of ₹96 lakh allocated by CMPDI through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.
The financial support will cover:
- Procurement and installation of advanced tinkering lab equipment
- Comprehensive training sessions for teachers
- Three years of technical and operational support to ensure the labs function seamlessly
The multi-year support framework ensures that the initiative not only launches successfully but also remains sustainable and effective long-term.
A Boost to STEM Learning in Ranchi
The introduction of Atal Tinkering Labs in government schools is expected to significantly enhance the learning environment. Students will gain early exposure to robotics, electronics, 3D printing, coding, renewable energy models, and more. Educators will also benefit through specialized training that equips them to mentor students in cutting-edge technologies.
CMPDI’s involvement highlights its deep-rooted commitment to community development, especially in the field of education and youth empowerment. UNISED’s expertise ensures that the project will be implemented with high standards and educational value.
