New Delhi: The Electricity Research & Load Dispatch Center (ERLDC), GRID-INDIA, and IIT Delhi signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on November 6, 2025, for a pioneering R&D project titled “Design and Development of an AI-enabled Smart Device with Real Time-of-Use Tariff-based Demand Side Management Controller.”
The MoU was signed by Prof. Preeti Ranjan Panda, Dean (Corporate Relations), IIT Delhi, and Mr. Rajib Sutradhar, Executive Director, ERLDC, GRID-INDIA. The collaboration aims to leverage AI and digital innovation to enhance future-ready grid management.
AI-Driven Smart Home Energy Management
The project focuses on developing an AI-driven Smart Home Energy Management System designed to optimize electricity consumption for households. The system will intelligently respond to:
- Time-of-Use tariffs to manage costs efficiently
- Grid frequency signals to maintain stability
- Ancillary signals to support real-time grid management
This approach will not only help households reduce electricity costs but also contribute to overall grid stability and efficiency.
