Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav emphasized the need to expand the role of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) beyond the traditional practice of crop procurement. Speaking at the FPO Director Summit-2025, he urged FPOs to engage in value-added processing of agricultural produce, thereby boosting the incomes of their farmer members and contributing to the state’s industrial and economic growth.
The summit was organized under the theme ‘Samriddh FPO – Atmanirbhar Kisan – Vikasit Bharat’ by the FPO Federation Madhya Pradesh at the State Agricultural Extension and Training Institute, Bhopal.

“FPOs Should Become Profit-Driven Enterprises”
CM Dr. Yadav highlighted that the state is progressing steadily towards contributing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047. He said the government is committed to increasing food processing from the current 5% to an ambitious 95%.
“FPOs should not merely be buyers; they must process and market agricultural produce. This will ensure that profits flow back to farmers,” said the Chief Minister.
State Government’s Support for Agro-Industries
Food processing units like a potato chip factory are being developed in Malwa, creating new employment opportunities.
FPOs will play a vital role in warehousing, logistics, and agri-value chain management.
The state government is offering robust incentives, including:
- ₹6000/month subsidy for female employees,
- ₹5000/month for male employees in newly established industries for 10 years.
- Solar Pumps and Irrigation Expansion
- Madhya Pradesh’s irrigated area has expanded to 55 lakh hectares.
- 32 lakh solar pumps are being distributed to free farmers from electricity bills.
Self-Help Group Sisters Tie Bamboo Rakhis
In a symbolic gesture of rural empowerment, women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in Ratlam district tied bamboo rakhis on the wrist of the Chief Minister. Dr. Yadav extended greetings for Independence Day, Janmashtami, and Balram Jayanti to all attendees.
Global Demand for MP’s Organic Cotton
Dr. Yadav pointed out that Madhya Pradesh’s organic cotton is in high demand worldwide, while Chinese cotton is being rejected by textile manufacturers. However, cotton cultivation is declining in the state due to chemical use and cropping pattern changes.
He also warned against foreign countries falsely labeling their cotton as MP produce, especially China and Vietnam.
Boosting Dairy and Coarse Grain Sectors
The state aims to increase milk production from 9% to 20% under the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Kamdhenu Yojana.
- Government is procuring coarse grains (like kodo and kutki) at Minimum Support Price (MSP).
- Milk processing and dairy products will be promoted as key industries.
- No Fertilizer Shortage, Flood Relief Assured
- Agriculture Minister Edal Singh Kanshana clarified that:
- Urea is available in sufficient quantity.
- Slight shortage of DAP is being resolved.
- Adequate compensation will be given to farmers affected by recent floods.

National Leaders Emphasize FPO Training and Unity
Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) National President K. Sai Reddy emphasized FPO unity and collective strength akin to the Pandavas, declaring that India is on track to become a global economic power by 2047.
Dinesh Kulkarni, All India Organization Minister of BKS, called for continuous training in product marketing for FPOs, emphasizing Lord Shri Balram as a symbol of strength for farmers.
Kulkarni also mentioned the establishment of Mahi Federation at the national level and state-level FPO federations in six states, including Malwam Federation in Madhya Pradesh.
