Ujjain: The holy city of Ujjain played host to the Second Global Spiritual Tourism Conclave, inaugurated by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. The event commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp and witnessed participation from over 300 spiritual leaders, scholars, and experts from across India and abroad.
The conclave provided a space to discuss the evolving dimensions of spiritual tourism, aiming to bridge ancient wisdom with modern experiences.
A Platform for Dialogue on Spiritual Heritage and Sustainable Tourism
Held in collaboration with key stakeholders including PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) and the Ministry of Tourism, the conclave focused on promoting India’s spiritual tourism landscape through a future-ready lens. It emphasized not only religious significance but also economic potential, urban planning, and sustainable development.
Delivering the keynote, spiritual teacher Gauranga Das inspired attendees with insights on spirituality in the context of global transformation.

A comprehensive report on spiritual tourism trends, prepared by PHDCCI and KPMG, was unveiled at the event. The report outlines strategies to enhance pilgrimage experiences while preserving cultural sites.
Key sessions included:
- Jyotirlinga Circuit: Addressing conservation and spiritual significance of India’s 12 sacred Jyotirlinga shrines.
- Temple Economies: Exploring how temple towns such as Tirupati, Vaishno Devi, and Kashi Vishwanath act as engines for local economic development and community empowerment.
Urban Transformation Rooted in Spiritual Identity
A session titled “Mahakal’s Mandala” explored how Ujjain’s spiritual ecosystem, including the Shri Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga and the upcoming Simhastha 2028, is shaping the city’s infrastructure and identity as a spiritual capital with global relevance.

Innovation Meets Spirituality
The conclave also examined modern tools for spiritual engagement. Sessions like “Wellness as the New Spiritual Frontier” and “Spirituality 2.0” showcased the role of technology, including AI, virtual reality, and digital platforms, in making practices like yoga, meditation, and temple experiences more accessible and immersive.

Participants concluded the event with guided visits to Mahakaleshwar and Kal Bhairav Temples, offering a personal experience of Ujjain’s living spiritual heritage.
