After the central government made clear that it is not satisfied with the work being done under the Marginal Area Development Scheme, the state government of Jammu and Kashmir made the decision of appointing nine senior-level officials to undertake the responsibility.
In such a situation, senior officers of the Indian Administrative Service holding additional responsibilities will play an important role in making the central plan successful and making the marginal area development plan effective in their respective districts in a better way.
The officers that have been posted for the cause are:
- Commissioner Secretary M Raju has been made the District Tax Officer-in-charge of Jammu.
- Commissioner Secretary Manoj Kumar Dwivedi was made in-charge of Kathua.
- Secretary Sushma Chauhan was made in-charge of Samba district.
- Commissioner Secretary Sanjeev Verma has been made in-charge of Rajouri district
- Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary has been made in-charge of Poonch district.
- Principal Secretary Asghar Samoon has been made District magistrate Bandipora
- Naveen Kumar Chaudhary has been appointed magistrate Baramulla
- Principal Secretary Dheeraj Gupta has been made Budgam
- Secretary Sarfad Hameez has been made Officer-in-Charge of Kupwara district.
The officers taking new responsibilities will give a timely report to the Jammu and Kashmir government about the development work being done under the Marginal Area Development Scheme in their respective districts. There are clear instructions from the central government that the administration should work towards speeding up the development of the marginal areas.
